Advisory Board Nominations Now Open

Nominations are now open for AULYP Advisory Board membership! Per the AULYP Bylaws, the Advisory Board will advance the strategy and vision of AULYP through support of programs and initiatives, advice to the AULYP Executive Committee, and service through fundraising, strategic planning and other responsibilities prescribed by the President and Executive Committee. Advisory Board members must commit to two-year terms and a quarterly meeting schedule.

Eligibility for nomination is open to all active members, and non-members with an interest in supporting the AULYP agenda. Nominations are open through March 5.

Black Executive Exchange Program 2010

It’s time for BEEP 2010! As part of the National Urban League’s Black Executive Exchange Program (BEEP), AULYP will partner with Clark Atlanta University students to share knowledge about networking, careers and tools for success on March 22 and 23.
This unique program allows professionals to go into colleges around the country and offer expertise and knowledge to upcoming graduates. BEEP provides an opportunity for professionals and corporations to give back to their communities and help credentialed African American college students achieve their goals. Join BEEPers from across the country by participating in AULYP’s efforts!

2010 Message from the President

As AULYP approaches its ninth anniversary, I am amazed at the progress the organization has made. More than 500 young professionals have held membership within the past eight years, and there are even more to come. It is my sincerest hope that we always remember our humble beginnings. As we continue to strive for innovation and impact, I recognize that none of our goals would be realized without our members who offer their diverse talents and gifts to the organization.

Our members helped us reach new heights in 2009 and the past year’s accomplishments are overwhelming! Since January we have revamped our website, hosted one of our largest Personal and Professional Development meetings to date and raised funds to support the March of Dimes, all while continuing to network and socialize. This year we welcomed back our Dream Catchers’ Award Reception with great success and also added a new signature program, Entrepreneur Bootcamp. Our members and their accomplishments have been recognized by organizations such as Leadership Atlanta, Outstanding Atlanta, and Heineken USA. After welcoming a new CEO, Nancy Flake-Johnson, into our affiliate we have continued to build upon and enhance our supportive relationship with the Atlanta Urban League. With all of these successes in 2009 to build upon, 2010 will offer even more opportunities and accomplishments for the organization and its membership.

So what can we look forward to in 2010? First, we plan to improve upon all of our signature programs. You can look forward to Dream Catchers, Entrepreneur Bootcamp, National Day of Service, Super Saturday, and Mingle N Serve being bigger and better this year. We also hope to add innovative programming that will enrich the lives of our members both personally and professionally. Plus, we are going to add new programs and events such as the Nulites, Founders Month, Town Hall Meetings, our first day trip, and more! As president, I couldn’t be more excited about what’s to come for AULYP and I hope you are too! So invite your friends and colleagues to join you in Atlanta’s premier networking organization and help us make 2010 another great year for AULYP.

An auxiliary of the Atlanta Urban League (AUL), AULYP focuses on advancing National Urban League initiatives by engaging young professionals - ages 21 to 40 - in the movement.

Establish/renew your membership: Visit our membership page our or contact the membership committee (e-mail link below) if you have questions. Download a membership application and pay using Pay Pal or mail it along with your cash or check payment. You may also pay by credit card at the next meeting or event. Also, renew your membership in your anniversary month, and receive $10 off your dues!

Join a committee: Committees meet monthly to organize, plan and detail chapter projects, events and activities.
